Italy x Reader
A Haunting we will go
You decided you would search for him, so he wouldn't wind up getting himself hurt.
You called out for him as you went down the stairs. You stopped at the second floor and looked around. "Italy! Italy, where are you!?" Receiving no answer, you continued to the first floor.
"Italy! Italy!" You searched everywhere, but still couldn't find the Italian.
You let out an exasperated sigh, leaning against the mantel of a fire place in the living area.
Something behind you on the mantel fell back, then the inside of the fire placed moved away, revealing a latter into a dark unknown.
You shook slightly. Could Italy be in there?
You sucked in a breath then snuffed out your candle, sticking it in one of your pockets. You descended down the latter slowly, being careful not to trip and hurt yourself.
Once you reached the bottom you found it was quite dark and it appeared you where in some kind of tunnel. You took out your candle and lit it once more, beginning your trek down the long passage.
A few times along the way, you had to stop and catch the breath you had not realized you where holding, and to calm yourself whenever you started to shake. You hated to admit it, but this place really had you scared now.
Not only where there strange happenings, such as the door being locked, the fresh blood, the candelabra, but now Italy was missing, and you feared for the safety of the Italian boy.
You continued on, eventually reaching the end, where a large metal door stood. You reached for the handle hesitantly, then pulled it open, revealing a faintly lit room filled with odd metal contraptions.
Stepping into the room, you touch one of the objects curiously, only to quickly pull back as something pricked your finger. You glanced down at your finger as it started to sting and a small trickle of blood escaped. You winced and pressed your thumb to it, keeping the air from getting to it.
You looked back at the contraption. It was some kind of large wooden wheel with spikes on it, and unfortunately, the spike you happened to touch was completely rusted with dried blood caked on it.
"Damn." You muttered, frowning. "Now I'm going to get some terrible disease or something."
You looked around the room again, and noticed now that all the contraptions where a bit similar to this one. There was a table in the shape of a body with spikes on it and such other things.
"This must be a torture room." You muttered, walking deeper into the room, looking in horror at all the contraptions that had blood on it. "What happened here?"
You jumped, hearing something large thud from behind you. You turned to see that the door had close and you shook. 'W-What.. did that..?'
You turned once again as you heard shuffling behind you. You where scared out of your mind now and the candle in your hand shook like crazy. "W-Who's there?"
There was no answer, only more moving.
"D-Don't come near me! I... I know kung fu!" You raised your hands in a defensive way, still shaking. You took a shaky step forward, with great reluctance. You glanced around, trying to light every nook and cranny with your small candle.
And then something very unexpected happened.
One of the contraptions feel over, making a large crash.
You screeched, turning on your heels and running to the door, you attempted to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. You whimpered and turned, pressing your back against the door.
There was nothing, absolutely nothing.
That you could see.
You shook against the door, frightened.
Then, there was nothing behind you, causing you to fall back and crash to the floor.
"Ah! _____! I found you!"
You winced then cracked an eye open. Your heard nearly leapt with joy as you saw Italy staring down at you.
You jumped up and hugged the Italian. You turned him around and pushed him back down the corridor.
"Huh? What are you doing?" Italy questioned, glancing back at you as you pushed him.
"Let's-Let's look somewhere else." You muttered, slightly shaking.
"Oh. Hey! I found a way out of here!" He smiled back at you, taking your hands and hurried down the corridor.
"Really? Where?" You blinked as you reached the latter.
"Just come on!" He hurried you up the latter first, almost pushing you up.
"Hold on! I'm going as fast as I can!" You snapped down at him, already climbing.
Once you both reached the top, you dusted yourself off and looked around.
"So... where is this exit...?"
"This way." He grabbed your hand, pulling you to the front door. He reached for the knob and you where quick to speak up.
"We already tried that, Italy. It didn't work, remember?"
"I know. But-" He turned the knob and it clicked. He swung the door open and smiled at you. "It's open now!"
You stared outside in disbelief, then blinked. "You've GOT to be kidding me... are you serious?"
He smiled at you. "Yes. Come on! Let's go before something else crazy happens!"
With that, you left the mansion, not looking back.
A few days have passed since you where trapped in that mansion and it seemed that the experience brought you and Italy closer.
You where always together before, but now you both stuck to each others sides like you where joined at the hip.
Like right now, you and Italy where setting next to each other at the World Meeting, watching the other countries with apprehensive eyes, just waiting for a fight to break out and punches to start flying.
England starred at the both of you from across the table, his elbows propped up and his chin resting on his neatly folded hands. He was too engrossed in the two of you to notice that France was trying desperately to get his attention by throwing insults his way every change he got.
As you glanced around at all the faced of the Nation's your eyes feel on England last. You're eyes locked from across the table and you stared at each other for a long moment.
Then, he nodded, a hint of recognition in his eyes.
You blinked and looked away from him, and once again looked around at the different Nations.
After the Meeting you dragging Italy, attempting to stay out of the way of the other Nations and also trying to avoid a few.
But there was one you could not avoid. He stood before you, blocking the door and staring right at you.
You stepped up to the Englishman and smiled sweetly, slightly creeped by the fact he had been staring at you through out the meeting. "Hello, England."
"Oh. Hello, _____." He smiled at you in return. "I would like to speak to the both of you for a moment."
"Oh.." You glanced back at Italy, who was staring wide eyed at the other country, shaking slightly. "Sure."
England turned, opening the door and holding it open for the both of you as you stepped out of the meeting room.
The three of you walked out of the building and found a quite place to sit, next to a tree.
You and Italy sat with your back against said tree, facing the build, while England sat in front of you.
"So..." England cleared his throat. "I understand you both went to that mansion I was speaking of a few days ago."
You and Italy look at each other and then back at the Brit, both smiling sheepishly.
"Y-Yeah. We did."
"You know... when I was talking about it that day... I was warning everyone to stay away from that place." England's eyes narrowed a bit. "Do you know why?"
"I think I've got an idea." Italy shook next to you.
"I believe you understand how... haunted that place is. Many bad things happened in that place and I did not wish for anyone to suddenly get the gall to go check it out and get harmed."
"What... happened there?" You questioned, suddenly interested.
England sighed and shook his head. "Well... from what I understand... the Lord of the mansion at the time was a horrible man. He enslaved many people from all over the world, even hired pirates to find women for him."
"That's horrible." Italy frowned.
"Yes... and... all the women and a few men took their revenge on the Lord. They killed him in his sleep... in his own bed. But... the Lord's spirit was restless and took its own revenge on the servants. It was a horrible massacre."
"When.. when we where there..." A lump formed in your throat as you spoke, you never thought such horrible things would have happened there. "I.. I saw a hidden tunnel that led to a torture room..."
"Yes. He indulged in such things as well." England looked away. "If any servant disobeyed they where sent to that room... and where never seen again."
You and Italy both shook then.
"Have you... ever been there England?"
"Once. But I left as soon as I step in the door." He looked back to you. "The... 'bad vibes' that came from that place where too much for me to handle."
"T-Thank you for telling us, England." Italy was still shaking. "We apologize for not listening to your warning."
"It's alright." England smiled then. "At least you know now to take me a bit seriously, yes?"
All three of you laughed at that.
You and Italy both, from that day forward, swore you WOULD take the Englishman more seriously.
